Ihave changed belts on 2 cars before and checked the timing marks lined up before and they did, then changed the belt, making sure not to move anything in the process, then give it 2 rotations and make sure the marks still line up. If they do job done, if they don't I will reset the belt and repeat. Been faultless with me so far. Thereis no timing belt replacement procedure in MES (phonic wheel) for the 1750tbi so I would just see how the engine runs.
